MP & Silva, the international sports media agency which has been recently acquired by Beijing-based investors Baofeng Technology and Everbright, announced that they closed a new partnership with Globo for the distribution rights of Campeonato Brasileiro da Série A (also known as Brazilian League Série A or Brasileirão) and State Championships of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Latin America.
The new distribution deal for Latin American countries includes all media rights on a platform neutral basis and covers three seasons, from 2016 to 2018.
The rights package consists of two State Championships (Campeonato Paulista and Campeonato Carioca) from January to April and the Brazilian Championship (Campeonato Brasileiro) from May to December. The package also includes a weekly football magazine called FootBrazil containing inside information and up-to-the-minute news on Brazilian football, and a weekly Highlights Show.
The deal will cover all broadcast technologies and media platforms, including terrestrial free-to-air television (FTA), satellite and cable television, Internet protocol television (IPTV), closed circuit television, mobile television, mobile, internet, broadband television and video on demand by means of television and digital rights. MP & Silva will the exclusive distributor of the Brazilian Championship for Argentina, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Falkland Islands, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, and non-exclusive for the Dominican Republic.
MP & Silva has a successful media rights history with Latin American Football. The agency has distributed not only the Brazilian Championship but also other important football competitions to European and Asian broadcasters, including Copa Libertadores, Copa do Brasil, Copa America and Copa Sudamericana.
On the broadcasting side, MP & Silva is also a strong player in Latin America, with on-going relationships with TV channels and media groups in the region where they currently distribute Italian Serie A, World Baseball Classic, ATP tennis, boxing, FIM Superbikes, Scottish Premier League and now Brazilian football.
MP & Silva is also the creative force behind the Americas Champions League project, a UEFA Champions League-style club football competition covering all of the Americas, which is currently being negotiated to start on 2018.
