Sports Join Forces to Fight Against Piracy

The world's main sports leagues gathered at the White House to collaborate and work towards fighting audiovisual piracy.

Technological advances that have benefited sports in so many ways, are also playing a damaging role in terms of piracy and illegal content sharing, which costs the world's main leagues millions of dollars every year.

With support from the US Government, representatives from major sports organizations gathered at the White House to collaborate and work towards fighting audiovisual piracy.

Daniel Marti, Coordinator of the Application of Intellectual Property of the US Government; Kevin Plumb, Director of Legal Services of the Premiere League; Ayala Deutsch, EVP of the NBA; Dolores DiBella, Attorney of the NFL; Amy Gold, Attorney of the MLB; William Ordower, EVP of the MLS; Tom Prochnow, VP of the NHL; Harrison Whitman, General Advisory of Top Rank Boxing; and Dylan Budd, VP of Ultimate Fighting Championship; together with Ignacio M. Trujillo, General Director of Innovation and Global Development at LaLiga; have taken one more step forward in the fight against piracy.

"The world's main sports competitions are working together to end a problem that affects them directly. Piracy is one of the main problems affecting these major leagues and together they will continue to take steps to end it," the press release says.

To continue this global fight against piracy, LaLiga is creating, together with the White House, a Global Coalition with the main US sports leagues and others affected by the issue, such as advertising brands and rights holders, to fight against pirate sites that offer content illegally.
